Dr. Andrea L. Carvalho
Introducing the laughing dentist!
Dr. Andrea L. Carvalho received her honors Bachelor of Arts in French Language and Literature and Bachelor of Education from Western University. Subsequently, she completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Toronto. She has practiced in a number of GTA offices before transitioning into ownership of Chin Up and Smile Dentistry.
For over 20 years, along with being a dentist, she molds young minds into the dentists of the future when she teaches part time at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. Dr. Carvalho is a member of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, the Ontario Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry and is the President Elect of the Xi Psi Phi International Dental Fraternity. She is definitely a dentist who can make you laugh without the gas. She credits her gentle demeanor and incredible sense of humor to her three children.
As a longtime Oakville resident, Dr. Carvalho and her family are often seen in the downtown. In her spare time, Dr. Carvalho enjoys reading, photography, scrapbooking, travelling, playing with her kids and spending time with her family.
Dr. Joan Chin
Dr. Joan Chin is a graduate of the University of Toronto. She obtained a BSc in Pharmacology and a MSc in Radiation Biology from the Department of Medical Biophysics. She then pursued and received her DDS degree graduating from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Chin has been in the private practice of general dentistry at her same location in Mississauga for almost 30 years. She has been on staff at the Trillium Health Centre's Department of Dentistry where she was presented an award in 2010 for 15 years of Dedicated Service to the Trillium Hospital.
Jenna
Dental Hygienist
Jenna is a 2021 graduate of the Canadian Academy of Dental Health. She had previously received her dental assisting accreditation from George Brown College in Toronto. She has been providing hygiene care in our office since 2021. Jenna’s calm and friendly demeanor, attention to detail and enthusiasm to maintain high and current standards in the profession make her a valuable team member. She was born and raised in Mississauga ON, and currently lives there. When she’s not working she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, working out at the gym or walking her dog.
Diane
Dental Assistant
Diane is our Level II dental assistant that graduated from Georgian College in 2012. Diane is fun loving, hardworking, and extremely passionate about her career. She takes a lot of pride in ensuring patients feel calm and comfortable during their dental appointments. Diane enjoys spending her spare time with her fiancé, family and her dog Duke. Some of her hobbies are travelling, cooking and catching up on her Netflix shows.

December marked the ending of a long term service in dentistry. Dr Chin has chosen to retired after serving her patients for 30 years. She will be enjoying doing some travelling, having some down time and trying to improve her golf swing once the weather gets better. We, at Chin Up and Smile Dentistry, wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
